Photography is truly my passion in life. I guess you could say "It's not what I DO, it's who I AM."
My name is Angela M. Jorczak. I love photographing people, nature, architecture, landscapes, and still-life, capturing the beauty and life of the world around us. I find it very gratifying when I can seize the moment with my camera.
I started Pictures of You in 1993 while I worked part time for a local "walk-in ...no appointment needed" style of portrait studio. It was there among angry Moms and crying children that I said there had to be a better way of capturing a child's innocence than having them wait in line for two or three hours to get a generic, average, one pose allowed photo when they're all tired and hungry and very unhappy.
Pictures of You was created to be portable. I come to you, and I bring all of the necessary gear to capture a timeless moment. I can set up my studio in the privacy of your own home, or just my camera and I can meet you at your favorite park or setting. The best thing about having your portraits taken by me, YOU get to decide where you want your portraits taken, and in what style you prefer to capture your personality and the relationship you have with those you love.
Since that day when I picked up my first camera, I have learned to advance my skills and evolve my techniques through life's "trial & error" lessons and self teaching. I thought I never wanted to photograph people, especially weddings because there's so much pressure. But one day I was thrown into it and realized that I really enjoyed being with people, and sharing joy and laughter. I put the pressure on myself. My fear was vanquished by the realization that I didn't have to pose people, I just had to master capturing emotion, expression and personality with my camera. This capability I think forever evolves as time teaches us and we mature as photographers.
I now enjoy teaching what I know while still taking in inspiration from others. People have a variety of expression and emotion to capture. In an instant it changes, never really appearing the same way twice. For this reason, I love to photograph people in multiple sessions and maintain a relationship with my clients. I get to grow along with them.
I'm available to photograph with short notice and provide basic, minimal retouching. Advanced techniques and special effects require additional processing time. I am highly proficient in advanced editing techniques in photoshop and teach various editing, photography, and camera workshops. I have been hired by other photographers and clients to provide photo editing services as well as album designing.
I enjoy traveling and I always bring my camera with me, wherever I go. I am the co-organizer for The Capital Region Photography Meetup Group, and teach photography tutorials in portraiture, lighting, black & white darkroom work, nature, composition, studio photography and photoshop/lightroom editing. I also hold small group workshops, or personal one-on-one workshops to help people enhance their photography and photo editing skills. Don't be surprised if you find some of my photographs published in some photography books!
No matter where I am or what I'm doing, I tend to see the world through "photographic eyes," therefore I have a greater awareness and appreciation of the world around me, even beyond my photographic endeavors. I rely on my photographic eyes to capture each image or moment as it unfolds naturally.
My objective is to create a work of art of exceptional quality that will be loved and cherished.
